The Smell of Plastic Burning

If inhaling melting plastic can make you high, then consider me on cloud nine ...

Once again my prowess in the kitchen has been put to the test causing me to fail miserably. It seems in my eagerness to cook a little something something, I failed to notice that I had not taken out every little pot, pan, and lid that I keep stored in the oven when it's safely off.

Therefore, I have learned two things today.

1. Do not store plastic anything in the oven less you should forget its there.

and

2. Melting plastic really, really stinks and makes your eyes water something fierce.

Needless to say, I think dinner is going to be running a bit behind tonight ... Guess it's a good thing I'm eating alone.

Not only stinky, but toxic...open the windows and get outside for a bit. What's wrong with scrambled eggs and toast?

Hot, so hot here...egads I am ill equipped to handle this heat wave. Give me the Adirondacks any day.
Prediction is 100+ tomorrow and Wednesday...

Hope your work day was better than your domestic time in the kitchen.

All windows are currently open and all fans are presently blowing ...

Although I will admit that eggs and toast really doesn't sound appealing at this exact moment in time ... Maybe tomorrow. For breakfast.

There's a reason I like living up North ... I like snow. I like being cold. I just do not like the utility bills ... ;)

More from me later ... I'm still trying to think of what to make for dinner ... Perhaps I should just wait for tomorrow.

Both very, very good songs ... I love Frog On My Toe, always gets me a little misty ...

Have you heard her latest album? Many most excellent songs on it ... Can't wait to see it live next month!

I guess I should have looked twice inside the oven before cooking away ... As it is, it WASN'T a tupperware lid that bit the dust but my favorite sculabasta (strainer) that made one big giant melted mess ... Oh well, not much I can do about it now.

And yes, I am feeling much better ... Save for the toxic fumes, that is.

;)

100+, argh, it's only been that here perhaps once in my life... :S

Stacey, why do you store things in your oven? It's not a cupboard, at least I don't think it is. Sounds dangerous to me.

Personally, I don't think there is any comparison between Earthquakes and Beekeeper ... Then again, I'm of the opinion that Tori progresses with each album she puts out and though there are some similarities, on the whole it is a completely new body of work able to stand on its own ...

And yes, Brenda ... If there is a meet and greet, we are SO there.

;)

Dearest Orbling ... I store things in my oven because I am somewhat lacking in cupboard space. Now normally, when I'm paying attention, I take everything out prior to turning the oven on, but I was - as they say - a teeny, tiny bit distracted last night. Best think of a better place however as that burning plastic smell seems to hang about the house.

Malyssa ... Shhh ... Careful what you say about the ending. There are people about who have yet to finish (or start even) their reading ... That being said, how are we going to wait for the next (and last) installment to come out?

I just don't know ...

Have I mentioned that you are off my Christmas card mailing list? That is, if I actually manage to send them on time this year, which if I know myself as well as I think I know myself, probably won't happen anyway ...

And for your information, I have a step stool and I do store stuff up in the higher elevations ... Though I'm a bit smart about it, and only store the stuff that I really don't use all that often up high.

Bug off anyhoo ... I'm tired, didn't get all that much sleep thanks to the dratted Tavi the terror who spent most of the night making as much noise as possible ...

And now, now I have to go grab a shower and try to forget the dream I had last night, which involved people from work in a not so good way ... Yuck. Maybe I should try washing my mouth out with soap or something.

Notice the stalling tactic here ... I so do not want to motivate and yet, I'm gone ...

LOL

Whilst I'm familiar with the lack of cupboard space argument and have family who use the "must be within reach" argument - I still think it's best to invent alternatives to storing things in potentially destructive environments. ;)

Your cats could do with their own bedroom.

That or I needed a little padded room all to myself ... ;)

Feel free to come up with a list of alternatives for me to consider, my brain is quite through with thinking for the night.
