You Spin Me Right Round

I am contemplating puking ... Again.

I've done it so often in these past few days that I am proud to boast that were their awards for tossing ones cookies, I would surely win.

Just this morning I lost it in the shower. Midway between the shampoo and the conditioner, the feeling came upon my like a punch in the stomach. So sudden and quick that I couldn't even manage a quick hop out to barf in the toilet bowl. Instead I pressed my hands against the wall for support, hunched over in a mad imitation of that notorious bell ringer and went all Quasimodo in the tub. It was not pretty to say the least.

And I feel like shit despite compliments on my new viridian complexion. So much so that the thought of blogging much more has me convinced that I'm taking unnecessary chances or further irritating my tender sensibilities with the whiteness of the screen.

I promise as soon as I can keep solid food down and my mind has been restored to cognitive thoughts, I will be back ... Bloggier than ever.

Don't worry about blogging, or us, worry about you - we will too.

Sick in the shower, there are worse places, at least you can clean it up easily. My brother was sick in *my* bed in January, narrowly missing his g/f, but hitting tons of my stuff.... argh

Tummy bug or food poisoning? It's certainly lasted a long time. Really hope you feel better soon, take care, we're thinking of you. :)

16 hours? Traffic must be mighty bad, I could do it in about 9 from London... ;)

Pretty impressive time tables considering you don't even have directions to get here ...

Thanks for the flem based chuckle ... I'm off to take a shower (hopefully less exciting than yesterday's) and get myself to work.

(Yeah, I know. I should stay home and rest but really, I can't burn all those sick days this early in the year.)

ohmigod_TMI!!!Have you considered medical intervention? Please feel better soon. Love ya.

Am I to understand you have a yearly sick day limit???

How does that work? How do you choose how long you will be ill. :S

Over here statuatory sick pay (that the government reimburses companies for), has a maximum of 6 months per year. So it's rare to hit it. Even if you do, you go straight to incapacity benefit.

Weird.

Mom ... Consider medical intervention? Of course not! As long as I'm functioning at 33.3% capacity, I'm as healthy as a horse.

Sick days are at the discretion of your employer with how they work. Luckily mine is better than some, but knowing how many I have at the beginning of the year often times makes my decisions for how much and when I use them.

Hey Stacey, my turn to wish you well and hope ya get better .. I have finally succumb to the sore/scratchy throat part of this thing .. which ain't good for a new teacher .. fortunately, today was a field trip .. anyway .. you are right about the sick day thing .. I gain 1 sick day and 1 personal day per month .. and then any overtime is paid in 'comp time'.. either way .. off with pay or without .. SICK SUCKS !!

Ron ... Best wishes to you as well for a speedy recovery. There's not much fun to be had when one is feeling all upside down.

Sending you warm thoughts and medicated Puffs Plus.

How many times do I have to tell you, I stored the left over turkey in the freezer!!!

I mean, HELLO? Do you really think me that much of a MORON?

Never mind ... Don't answer that!

And what's up with clueing in Nancy? Do you think she's going to buy into your theory of food poisoning myself?

Never mind! Don't answer that either! (HUMPH!)

I'll call you in the morning but for now you can start working on my needs which are as follows:

1. I need a million dollars. Or any reasonable amount.

2. I need to have a job which allows for pajama wear.

3. Tall, dark, and intelligent ... Must I expand on that or are you getting my meaning?

Get back to me. But I swear if you ring my phone any earlier than 9 am tomorrow morning it shall not be pretty ...

New teachers always get sore throats, takes a long time to adjust to the speaking all the time. Plus classes of children are pretty much the best place to pick up germs. ;)

Sick days at the discretion of employer.... Hmmmmmmmm....

Here they are compulsory for all full-time jobs, the government subsidies the business to pay you when you're ill.

Another victory for a welfare state. :)
