Stupid Moments of Clarity

I hate to admit this, but I'm a little geeked up over the new brand of laundry detergent I picked up earlier tonight on my Wednesday night grocery trip. Two one hundred fluid ounce containers on sale for five bucks was all the try me, buy me propaganda I needed to see to pluck two of them off the shelf and add them to my already half full cart. (Though I did try not to set them on top of the chicken or anything else smushable for that matter.) And as I wheeled about the store, much like a Nascar driver at the Indy 500, it occurred to me that I really ought to shop off a list. Though to be perfectly honest with you, when it comes to lists, I'm great at making them and equally worse about following them. List or no list, I always forget something I need no matter what. Today's I can't believe I forgot that moment was brought to you by the letter "H" as in hairspray. As in reminded myself I had to get some hairspray, made my way down that very aisle and walked out of it with only hair dye in my hand. And yes, you heard me right. I said hair dye.

Whoever said going gray gracefully was the way to go was someone who was well past the age of thirty. At thirty (God, I still can't believe I'm that old) I absolutely refuse to do anything gracefully! (Did I mention I called Brenda on the phone the other day from work to tell her two very stupid things, the first being that I had this uncontrollable urge to crawl under my desk and hide there and the second to whine about being thirty when I swear to God I'm still holding fast to 29.) Anyhoo, I did manage to crawl under my desk and ... Woops. I wasn't supposed to admit to giving into that temptation ... Damn! My cool factor just dropped down faster than a barometer signaling rain. Must remember that this is a bit more readable than my handwritten diary ... And wouldn't you all just like a peek at that. (Not that there's anything overly interesting to be found there as I have written in that one for longer than I care to mention. Why write when one can blog I say.)

Uh oh. I've just realized I've left the hair dye on longer than I was supposed to. Ten extra minutes to be exact. I want my hair to be its original dark color without risking it falling out and looking like Mr. Clean.

I feel the need to lather, rinse, repeat and condition. Wish me luck and oh, leave me some comments. I'm getting lonely. (Don't make me beg. I'm begging here ...)

Hmm - left an email, left a voice mail, now leaving a comment - I'm sure you remember me - I think you have a photo or two of me in your home....I must be pretty low on the totem pole not to rate any response...it's not nice to mess with YM; I know most of your secrets (hint) ...

Hiding under desks is considered highly enjoyable and cool when you're a kid - can't see why that has to change for adults. ;)

I might knock all my furniture about and make a fort to hide in. :)

Now you see, with a personality as captivating as yours, any alterations to your appearence are utterly superfluous.

You're 30, not 90... still very young, with a whole lot of fun to come...

Oh, and apologies for not commenting yesterday - I was beyond tiredness and had to collapse without going near a computer...

Maaaaaaaaaaaa ... (said with asperation) Seriously I'm not packed for a guilt trip right now. ;) Heh. Although I have to say what email? And got your VM. And who are you again?

Kidding of course. I'll call you later on today when it's a bit later on in the morning.

Karl ... I miss the days of fort making. I was ever so handy with a blanket and chairs and whatever else happened to catch my attention. Although as of late, we've moved on to setting up popup tents in the living room when we're feeling the need to have camp out forts.

(And Mom ... Not one damn mention of tents for God's sake!)

As for not posting yesterday (though your comments were sorely missed) I feel much better knowing you actually slept. You really need to do more of it.

Just a quick correction to one of your comments Stacey (cause I'm an ass like that). Did you mean exasperation? Because asperation sounds a little like...well breathing to me (said with a smug little please don't hit me grin). I hope your tooth is feeling better, and if not I'm sorry I reminded you of it. Namaste

Bren ... Stop threatening me with a bad time. I already told you I'm not going and you can't make me. (Oh ... and I have to return the sandals and the green top and bottom combo I bought KC today as they don't fit. Want to hit the store again with me tomorrow?)

Lisa ... Nice to make your acquaintance and your blog as well. And you're absolutely right, we women do get better with age, although I'm leaving nothing to chance. (Tim's pretty great, isn't he?)

Lilly ... You think I've made you laugh, you've yet to read the post about the conversation I had with KC regarding (gulp) the birds and the bees ... I have yet to find the time to really do that post justice. Stay tuned!

Tim ... Sigh. Everyone has got to be a critic. Speaking of which, you spelled hysterical wrong on the title of one of your blogs the other day ... I however resisted the impulse to correct you. ;)

But you're absolutely correct. I totally used the incorrect word, though considering the hour I consider it pretty damn impressive I was able to type at all.

Tooth still hurts but I've got myself addicted to orajel as I patiently await my dentist appointment ... 3 weeks away. Oh God.

Karl ... Okay so you haven't said anything new, but I didn't want to leave you out. How was your day?

Orbling said...

Ahhh, and just as I was feeling like I had missed the conversation and was being left out. ;) :)

It's fortunate people do not correct my english too often, most of my posts/comments/emails/rambles are littered with all manner of errors. I type a little more phonetically than would be useful...

I love tents, especially when you can lie under the canvas and hear the pitter-patter of gentle rain; a great pleasure to be sure.

[YM, mention the tents, mention the tents....]

As for my day... Went to bed at 8am :S, got up an hour later than I needed at 1.30pm - which meant I had to fly around getting ready to go out, hypersonic showering is not a strong suit of mine... Watched a couple of films at the cinema (Melinda & Melinda, Miss Congeniality 2), then returned to the homestead to catch up with my brother and his friends. So, pretty standard dull day.

Karl ... Trust me when I tell you, you don't want to know about the tent thing. Take my word on it.

How was Miss C # 2? Any good? Never heard of Melinda & Melinda ...

Orbling said...

Ah, but I want to know everything.....

Miss C #2 was fine, reasonably amusing. It was a sequel, so not necessarily as good as the first (which I saw on Monday), but pleasent and funny.

Melinda & Melinda is the new Woody Allen film - not overly convinced I like my comedy in his style.

KC said...

I've never been a big fan of Woody Allen or his films ... I just don't find his comedies funny.

As for me, I just finished watching Stephen Soundheim's Passion ... Now I am a big fan of his.

KC said...

That last sentence sounded wrong ... I think my emphasis was off ... What I meant to say was that I've always been a big fan of Soundheim.

Can you tell it's getting closer to my bedtime? My brain cells are dwindling.

And yes, for all you Tim's out there, I realize I spelled Sondheim's name wrong in my two previous posts.

KC said...

I think I'll leave a thousand comments ...

I had a Jack Nicholson moment when I re-read your comment from earlier ...

Orbling said; "Ah, but I want to know everything....."

To which I thought (as I recently watched this movie again) "You can't handle the truth."

Then again, you probably could ... Although I must say everything is a tall order.

;)

Okay ... I swear I am not commenting any more on this post tonight.

Orbling said...

Now I wondered how that jumped to 16 posts...

I'm familiar with some of Sondheim's lyrical work on a few films, though I've not seen Passion before - it's a few years old isn't it?

If there is one thing I can always handle, it is the truth. It is the only thing I ever really ask of anyone. :)

KC said...

I believe Passion came out in 1996 if I'm remembering correctly. Although the performance I watched last night on PBS was not the original cast. And though it was good, Patti LuPone as Fosca was no Donna Murphy, though she was far from horrid.

I guess there is this little part of me that identifies well with Fosca ...

If you search amazon you can find the original cast on DVD. I, of course, recommend you see it ... Eventually.

As for the comment numbers jumping that was me being an idiot last night. I couldn't seem to connect my brain to my fingers happily tapping away with nonsense.

And yes, I do believe you could (handle the truth)...

All right I see how it is...this means war! :) Not really, I'm far too lazy for war, plus unlike some recent politicians I know who to start with and who not too. Did you hear Bush threaten China? That jackass is gonna get us all killed! Hope you're having a great week. Namaste, Tim

KC said...

I'm still laughing over the jackass comment ... It's a good thing we don't live in a communist country, elsewise you'd be in some hot water young man. Although you already know I completely agree! Want to carry around signs together?

As for war, I've a full schedule this weekend. However if you find a deck of cards, I'll be more than willing to play a hand. Though I should warn you, I've been known to cheat.

;)

Some of the best people in the world can be found with the click of a few keys ... Friends are always wonderful things to find.

My daughter is rather artistic. One of the many things she wants to be when she grows up is an artist ... And it doesn't hurt that she's not half bad for her age.

Must be a family thing ... Though most of us are gifted with the gift of music or the talent for writing (though some of them don't do nearly enough of it ... Mom.) there are a few who are quite handy with colors ...
