I suppose I should do what I'm supposed to be doing today and finish spring cleaning the downstairs despite my lack of interest in doing so. And yet, there's not that much more to do other than clean up a bit of the clutter that hides the top of my computer desk and the entertainment center alike.
I was thinking however of running down to my Dad's and picking up my niece for a little while. She called me last night on the phone, right after Brenda got here and asked me if she could come over and spend the night. I on the other hand did something unusual and said no. Aunt Stacey who normally comes through in a pinch opted to enforce the no kids weekend. At least for last night that is.
So I think I will sign off - over and out - and give a call to my sister and then a call down to Dad's and retrieve the little monster before KC comes home tonight. Maybe I'll even open the pack rat chest and find something crafty we can do since baking cookies is out ...

That shouldn't be out...
Make soft toys, I love[d] doing that. Especially the weird pom-poms you make from winding yarn round and round a ring for ages and snipping it...
We made fluffy creatures that way...

Shouldn't be but it was ... At least for yesterday.
I picked my niece up, took her with me to get my hair cut, from there took her to lunch and then (sigh) did a little shopping.
My neice - after announcing that she wanted to stay with me all day and not go home, well at least not until after dinner - and I came back to my house, popped in the Shark Tale movie and made clay creations until her Mother popped over to pick her up.
All in all we had fun, though I think my neice far surpasses my own gift of gab. Lord can that girl talk and half of her sentences start with "Why?".
Probably my favourite word to see in children, as it shows intellect. Though I dare say a continuous exposure to that would try the patience a bit thin.
In my experience it's 4-5 year olds that master the word "why". Using it in the way adults use 'uh huh'...
Clay creations and Shark Tale sounds like a fun day.
I saw Pooh's Heffalump Adventure today, and Robots. :)
I think I was beginning to dread that word. Everywhere we went it was "Why Aunt Stacey? How come Aunst Stacey? Why? Why? Why?"
Not that it wasn't cute, but she wasn't too thrilled on some of the answers I gave her, particularly the ones she didn't agree with such as, "Why can't we go to the movies."
Try explaining to a five year old that your nine year old will be unhappy in ways that cannot be measured if she were to learn her Mom took her cousin to the movies without her!
I chose to "suffer" the why's rather than the "how could you's ..."
:)
And the clay thing went well. Unlike KC who can have perfectionist tendencies, she was more than happy to lump all the clay together and just get her hands dirty. While I on the other hand perfected a masterpiece ...
;)
The "how could yous..." take longer to deal with, so that was an efficient decision. ;)
I love why's from kids, unless I'm really busy, as I get to waffle on at them with more detail than they wanted.
They cease asking pretty swiftly - if they don't, then you know you'll soon be coming to them for advice.
I will be expecting documentary evidence if it was a masterpiece. ;)
I see this is going to require me getting my camera out then ... I should warn you, when it comes to getting my film developed, it can take a while.
:)
Yes, but paitience is a strong suit of mine.
All good things...
Should be coming to all of us right about now ... :)
(Tapping my foot and waiting ...)
I used to be really impatient like that, but it went away at some point in the past.
Now I have almost the opposite, to an extent, I prefer the waiting to the getting. Years are short time to me now. Nothing takes long enough.
